Coach Evan and myself talking about boogie boarding and the important role it plays in the surfing journey.
Here we go into part two of the Surf Senses series discussing…your voice. Posted up on the beach for sunset, long day behind us, and cold brew in hand. Let’s do this.
Well we finally managed to get this episode recorded in a way we like. For some reason or another, we struggled to impart the sentiment of this concept, but I think we got it this time! Let us know what you think.
This is a question I’ve been asked before…and while I’m no expert on creating at home workouts, I do have some thoughts on what you can do to improve yourself in order to become a better surfer when you’re not able to actually go surf. Thanks for your question, Jordan!
I’m pretty much obsessed with a great round house cutback. If you’ve ever drawn the perfect radius for the wave face you’re riding, brought it all the way around to the lip where the wave is just beginning to break, and rebounded perfectly off it and back down the line with more speed than you started with–then you understand where I’m coming from. I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to get better at them. They just feel so damn good. This video focuses on the first part of a proper round house cut back, the cutting back part. In a future video I’ll cover the second aspect of a good cut back, the re-entry.
Tune in to this story from Coach Ev talking about how he paddled out alone at BIG La Mision during the holidays.
Coach Chris and Coach Ev take a look back on their recent surf trip with students to La Saladita in Mexico.
Coach Chris and Coach Evan tell the stories of how they started surfing, and how they both knew they wanted to before they actually could. They also discuss the grom mentality and give a couple of tips for how to improve your surfing. Stop measuring how much you’ve improved and just have fun!
In this analysis Coach Evan and myself are looking at three situations where two different surfers are showing signs of being in over their head. When a surfer puts themself in a situation where they aren’t comfortable, poor behavior can ensue and increases the risk of injury to themselves or others.
